“We are standing up for the voiceless. Rusty did not have a family of his own so we are representing his family at large. We will be at the trial every day standing up for Rusty.” Katie Burd
On June 9, 2015, neighbors witnessed a small terrier being beaten with a shovel and tossed over a fence into a vacant field. Rusty died two days later from his injuries. An arrest was made and the accused, Martinez, is scheduled to be in court again on Tuesday, September 1, at 8:30 am at the Larsen Justice Center in Indio, CA. Katie Burd, an active member of SOAR spoke to the media and along with the neighbors and other animal advocates, has attended all court appearances. Please help STOP ANIMAL ABUSE and send a message to the D.A. and the court that our community demands Justice for Rusty.
